Patron's Message

  One of the prevalent themes that we see in our marriage liturgy is the divine initiative which constitutes a family.   The response expected on the couples is a life of faith.  We hear the priest praying: “Confirm them in true faith in You and grant that they may live it fervently and pass it on in heritage to their children”.  Three aspects are stressed here.  First of all, faith is a gift from God.  Secondly, the husband and the wife have to grow in the faith.  And finally, for a Christian couple, faith is a treasure to be shared and handed over to the children.

Fr. Rijo Marriage is a practice common to all cultures in all ages. It is, therefore, a natural institution, something common to all mankind. At its most basic level, “marriage is a union between a man and a woman for the purpose of procreation and mutual support, or love. Each spouse in a marriage gives up some rights over his or her life in exchange for rights over the life of the other spouse”.

 

What is special about Christian marriage? What is the difference between the natural marriage and Sacramental marriage?  These questions may come to our minds.
